Flood Watch issued July 20 at 10:01PM AKDT until July 22 at 10:00AM AKDT by NWS Anchorage AK * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The following areas, Western Kenai Peninsula. This includes the cities of Homer, Anchor Point, Ninilchik, Clam Gulch, Kenai, Soldotna, Sterling, And Nikiski. * WHEN...From Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Water levels for the Kenai and Anchor Rivers remain elevated from the previous rain event and will likely rise again during this next rain event. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rain is expected to develop south to north across the western Kenai Peninsula by late Tuesday morning and continue through early Wednesday morning before tapering off. 0.75" to 1.25" of rain is likely (70-80%) with this system with a low chance (20%) for amounts greater than 1.25" around Anchor Point and the Homer Bluffs. The highest rainfall amounts are expected from Ninilchik south to Homer. For the Kenai area, rainfall amounts around 0.4" to 0.7" are likely (70-80%). - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
