In southern Florida, Glades and Hendry. In southwest Florida, Coastal Collier County, Inland Collier County and Mainland Monroe. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rainfall amounts of 8 to 14 inches with isolated amounts up to 20 inches have fallen over portions of South Florida since Tuesday morning. Additional amounts of 2 to 4 inches of rainfall are forecast through Friday with locally higher amounts possible. Special Weather Statement issued June 14 at 1:35PM EDT by NWS Miami FL At 134 PM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists were tracking strong thunderstorms capable of producing a funnel cloud along a line extending from Miami Gardens to Marlins Park. Movement was northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Funnel clouds and winds in excess of 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Funnel clouds occasionally touch down and produce tornadoes or waterspouts. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Miami, Hialeah, Fort Lauderdale, Pembroke Pines, Hollywood, Miramar, Davie, Miami Beach, Coral Gables, South Miami, Surfside, Hallandale, Miami Gardens, Virginia Key, North Miami, North Miami Beach, Aventura, Dania Beach, Miami Lakes, and Sunny Isles Beach. Funnel clouds occasionally touch down and produce tornadoes or waterspouts. Move indoors and stay away from windows. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Persons participating in outdoor activities should seek sturdy shelter until these storms pass. Open shelters found in parks, beaches, or golf courses offer no protection from the dangers of lightning.
