Arkansas River at Oxford affecting Sumner County. ...Forecast flooding changed from Minor to Moderate severity and increased in duration for the following rivers in Kansas... Arkansas River at Arkansas City affecting Cowley County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Arkansas River at Arkansas City. * WHEN...From this afternoon to Wednesday evening. * IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, The Water Plant takes precautions on water well pump houses west of the Arkansas River. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:00 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 8.7 feet and rising. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 17.4 feet tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage Wednesday morning. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued this evening at 900 PM CDT.

In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 515 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen with some locally higher amounts. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hutchinson, Arkansas City, Winfield, Wellington, Goddard, Kingman, South Hutchinson, Sterling, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Haven, Nickerson, Oxford, Garden Plain, Mount Hope, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Andale. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harvey, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered showers and storms will continue this morning and will come to an end by the late morning hours. Some additional flooding will still be possible. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings.
