Flood Watch issued June 20 at 12:58PM CDT until June 21 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, north central, and northeast Kansas, including the following counties, in east central Kansas, Douglas, Geary, Shawnee and Wabaunsee. In north central Kansas, Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic and Washington. In northeast Kansas, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Riley. * WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected to move in from western Kansas and southeastern Nebraska overnight, which could produce multiple rounds of rainfall over the same locations. Amounts of 1 to 3 inches are forecast for most places, but localized amounts of 3 to 6 inches will probably occur somewhere in the watch area, which could lead to flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued June 21 at 2:33AM CDT until June 21 at 6:00AM CDT by NWS Topeka KS SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 362 REMAINS VALID UNTIL 6 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN KANSAS THIS WATCH INCLUDES 9 COUNTIES IN EAST CENTRAL KANSAS ANDERSON COFFEY DOUGLAS FRANKLIN LYON OSAGE SHAWNEE IN NORTHEAST KANSAS JACKSON JEFFERSON THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BURLINGAME, BURLINGTON, CARBONDALE, EMPORIA, GARNETT, GRANTVILLE, HOLTON, LAWRENCE, LEBO, LYNDON, MCLOUTH, MERIDEN, NORTONVILLE, OSAGE CITY, OSKALOOSA, OTTAWA, OVERBROOK, PERRY, TOPEKA, AND VALLEY FALLS.

Flood Advisory issued June 21 at 2:32AM CDT until June 21 at 5:45AM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northeast Kansas, including the following counties, Jackson and Nemaha. * WHEN...Until 545 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 231 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This is causing urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Holton, Wetmore, Whiting, Circleville, Corning, Netawaka and Soldier. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
