Special Weather Statement issued July 3 at 11:54PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 1154 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Gardner, or 15 miles northwest of Harlan, moving north at 10 mph. HAZARD...Heavy rain and wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Ice Cliff, Sandy Fork, Essie, Brightshade, Ashers Fork, Roark, Beverly, Creekville, Botto, Skidmore, Erose, Lipps, Spring Creek, Mills, Gardner, Plank, and Queendale. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
