Marine Weather Statement issued July 4 at 9:11PM EDT by NWS Wakefield VA The areas affected include... Coastal waters from Fenwick Island DE to Chincoteague VA out 20 NM... At 909 PM EDT, Doppler radar and land observations indicated a gust front from earlier thunderstorm activity, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This gust front was located along a line extending from near Rehoboth Beach to 8 nm north of Chincoteague Bay, moving east at 30 knots. Locations impacted include... Ocean City Pier, 10 Nm East Of Ocean City Inlet, Assawoman Bay, Ocean City Inlet, 10 Nm Se Fenwick Island, African Queen Wreck, Gulf Rambler Wreck, and Fenwick Island. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
