Des Moines River near Stratford affecting Webster, Boone and Hamilton Counties. East Fork Des Moines River at Dakota City affecting Humboldt County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...The East Fork Des Moines River at Dakota City, or from Highway C26 to the West Fork Des Moines River. * WHEN...From Monday evening to Saturday, June 29. * IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Water affects the Dakota City bridge just south of town. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 13.8 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late Monday evening to a crest of 21.5 feet Wednesday morning. It will then fall below flood stage Saturday, June 29. - Flood stage is 20.0 feet. For the latest river and stream observations and forecasts refer to weather.gov/desmoines/water. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. River forecasts include observed precipitation plus forecast precipitation over the next 24 hours.

Additional rainfall of 1 to 2" is likely, with locally higher amounts possible. If you live in or near the watch, please continue to monitor the weather closely today. * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northeast, and northwest Iowa, including the following counties, in central Iowa, Grundy, Hamilton, Hardin and Webster. In north central Iowa, Butler, Franklin, Humboldt and Wright. In northeast Iowa, Black Hawk and Bremer. In northwest Iowa, Pocahontas. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms developing this afternoon and evening may bring additional rainfall of 1 to 2" or more to areas that saw heavy rainfall last night. This may delay improvement to any ongoing flood conditions and lead to brief flooding or ponding of water as storms pass through.
