Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S affecting Clinton and Scott Counties. Iowa River at Marengo affecting Iowa and Benton Counties. * WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of record. * WHERE...Wapsipinicon River near De Witt 4S. * WHEN...From Saturday morning until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Water affects many residences along the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 9.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage Saturday morning and continue rising to a crest of 13.2 feet early Wednesday morning. - Flood stage is 11.0 feet. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In northeast Iowa, Buchanan, Delaware and Dubuque. In southeast Iowa, Keokuk, Louisa and Washington. * WHEN...Until 4 PM CDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
