Heat Advisory issued June 10 at 2:41PM EDT until June 10 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Northern Indiana * WHAT...Heat index values up to 99. * WHERE...Portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT /7 PM CDT/ this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued June 10 at 7:24PM EDT by NWS Northern Indiana At 724 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Millersburg to near North Webster to near North Manchester. Movement was east at 55 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. An isolated gust to 60 mph is possible. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Kendallville, Columbia City, Garrett, North Manchester, Winona Lake, Ligonier, Lagrange, Tri-lakes, Avilla, Albion, Churubusco, South Whitley, Rome City, Topeka, North Webster, Pierceton, Millersburg, Swan, Etna, and Wolcottville. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 1100 PM EDT for north central and northeastern Indiana.
