Flood Watch issued September 23 at 6:46PM MDT until September 25 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...All of Dona Ana and Otero Counties in south-central New Mexico, as well as the far northern Tularosa Basin in far eastern Sierra County, New Mexico. * WHEN...Through 6 AM Friday. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep moisture will remain in place through at least Friday morning, with weak disturbances producing periods of showers and thunderstorms. These storms will be far more localized than the rain we have already seen, and confidence in precise timing is low. But given the saturated conditions in the area, even brief storms could lead to localized flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Flood Advisory issued September 23 at 7:52PM MDT until September 23 at 11:45PM MDT by NWS El Paso Tx/Santa Teresa NM * WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is occurring. * WHERE...Central Otero County in south central New Mexico... * WHEN...Until 1145 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 752 PM MDT, the public reported flooding in the advisory area. This is causing arroyo and small stream flooding. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Sacramento, Mayhill, Pinon, Weed and Sixteen Springs. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
