Extreme Heat Watch issued July 8 at 11:14AM MDT until July 13 at 6:00AM MDT by NWS Billings MT * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with all time record high temperatures possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, south central, and southeast Montana and north central Wyoming. * WHEN...From Saturday morning through late Sunday night. Hottest temperatures are expected Sunday Afternoon. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Morning low temperatures may only fall into the 70s. This would result in little to no time for the body and infrastructure to cool off and recover, therefore increasing the risk of impacts. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Monitor the future forecasts and warnings for updates.

Special Weather Statement issued July 8 at 8:12PM MDT by NWS Billings MT At 812 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of strong thunderstorms extending from 14 miles east of Forsyth to 13 miles northwest of Custer, or extending from 14 miles east of Forsyth to 25 miles west of Hysham, moving southeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. The strongest storm is currently located west of Vananda as of 812 PM MDT. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Hardin, Colstrip, Forsyth, Hysham, Custer, Volborg, Rosebud, Vananda, Cartersville, Bighorn, Brandenberg, Hathaway, Moon Creek Ranch and Garland. Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
