severe thunderstorm warning in effect At 3:04 p.m. MST, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain. A line of slow moving thunderstorms 90 km north of Fort St. John is capable of producing heavy downpours and gusty wind. ### Weather in the mountains can change suddenly resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are likely to produce or are producing one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. special weather statement in effect What: Rain, heavy at times. Where: Fort Nelson region, primarily near Sikanni Chief, north Peace River region, Muncho Lake - Stone Mountain Parks. When: Today to Monday morning, except tonight to Monday evening for northern Peace River. Remark: A slow moving frontal system will set up around the Fort Nelson region today and move slowly towards the Peace River region tonight. Rain, heavy at times, and embedded thunderstorms are expected with this system. Current models indicate local amounts of 50 mm are possible, especially near Sikanni Chief and into the northern Peace River region, as well as Muncho Lake Park - Stone Mountain Park. The rain will ease early Monday for Muncho Lake Park - Stone Mountain Park and Fort Nelson regions. Rain will continue Monday for the northern Peace River region and end Monday evening. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
