Coastal waters from East Cape Sable to Chokoloskee FL out 20 NM... * Until 330 PM EDT. * At 226 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts were located along a line extending from 7 nm south of Naples to 11 nm south of Chokoloskee, moving west at 15 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Chokoloskee, Chevelier Bay, Cape Romano Aquatic Preserve, Cape Romano, Marco Island, and Naples. Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes. Special Weather Statement issued July 10 at 2:28PM EDT by NWS Miami FL At 228 PM EDT, National Weather Service meteorologists were tracking a strong thunderstorm near Royal Palm Hammock, or 10 miles northwest of Everglades City, moving west at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Marco Island, Belle Meade, Marco Island Airport, Royal Palm Hammock, Lely Resort, Fiddlers Creek, and Port Of The Island. These winds can down small tree limbs and branches, and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm passes. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
