Jefferson Davis Parish in southwestern Louisiana... Calcasieu Parish in southwestern Louisiana... * Until 530 PM CDT. * At 429 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 9 miles northwest of Hackberry to near Edgerly to near Lunita, moving east at 40 mph. THESE ARE DESTRUCTIVE STORMS FOR Calcasieu and Jefferson Davis. HAZARD...80 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be heavily damaged. Expect considerable damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles. Extensive tree damage and power outages are likely. * Locations impacted include... Lake Charles, Sulphur, Jennings, Westlake, Welsh, Iowa, Lake Arthur, Mermentau, Fenton, Hayes, Moss Bluff, Lake Charles Regional Airport, Lunita, Topsy, Lebleu Settlement, Gillis, Edgerly, Carlyss, Buller, and Buhler. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into a small central room in a sturdy structure. This is an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION with tornado like wind speeds expected. Mobile homes and high profile vehicles are especially susceptible to winds of this magnitude and may be overturned. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. These storms have the potential to cause serious injury and significant property damage. Damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

Flood Watch issued May 13 at 9:13AM CDT until May 14 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Lake Charles LA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Louisiana, including the following parishes, Lafayette, Northern Acadia, Northern Calcasieu, Northern Jefferson Davis, Southern Acadia, Southern Calcasieu, Southern Jefferson Davis, St. Landry, Upper Iberia, Upper St. Martin and Upper Vermilion and southeast Texas, including the following areas, Lower Jefferson, Northern Orange, Southern Orange and Upper Jefferson. * WHEN...Through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to affect the region again today into tonight. Portions of the area received 2 to 4 inches of rainfall Sunday, and an additional 1 to 3 inches is expected today, along with localized higher amounts.
