Hydrologic Outlook issued September 17 at 1:26PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL ESFLOT Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are possible starting late Friday night and continuing into Monday across southern Wisconsin, northern Illinois, and part of northwestern Indiana. High moisture content in the atmosphere will lead to torrential downpours where thunderstorms are most frequent, leading to the potential for several inches of rain on a widespread basis. The favored area for several rounds of showers and thunderstorms Friday night through Monday will be near and north of Interstate 80 where several inches of rain have fallen in the past 24 hours. The intersection of increasingly saturated soils and repeated downpours may lead to areas of flooding and rises in river levels, including along the Rock, Fox, DuPage, and Illinois rivers. This outlook means that elevated water levels and potential impacts are possible, but not yet certain. Persons should closely monitor forecasts including the possibility of flood watches, warnings, and advisories. Additional statements or outlooks may be issued by tomorrow morning.

Beach Hazards Statement issued September 17 at 2:39PM CDT until September 18 at 3:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...High wave action and dangerous currents expected at Lake Michigan beaches. Waves of 3 to 6 ft expected. * WHERE...Lake IL, Northern Cook and Central Cook Counties. * WHEN...From late tonight through Friday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening, especially for inexperienced swimmers. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An additional period of dangerous swimming conditions is expected Friday night into early next week. Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other shoreline structures.
