Flash Flood Warning issued September 28 at 6:44PM MDT until September 28 at 9:00PM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT At 644 PM MDT, Zion National Park Dispatch confirmed that flash flooding is occurring in Heaps Canyon, as well as several other drainages within the park. Between 0.25 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen, and additional light to moderate rain is expected to persist through this evening. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Zion National Park Dispatch IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of slot canyons, normally dry washes, creeks and streams. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Zion National Park and Springdale. Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.

Flood Watch issued September 28 at 12:24AM MDT until September 30 at 12:00AM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of Utah, including the following areas, Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity, Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell, South Central Utah, Western Canyonlands, Lower Washington County and Zion National Park. * WHEN...From 6 AM MDT this morning through Tuesday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, dry washes, slot canyons, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations such as slickrock areas and recent burn scars. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep tropical moisture will combine with an upper level low crossing the Desert Southwest to bring an increased threat of flash flooding through Tuesday evening.
