Location of eye/center : The center of Severe Tropical Storm QUEENIE was estimated based on all available data at at 605 km East Northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (23.2, 127.1). Outside the PAR, it will accelerate northeastward towards the sea south of mainland Japan. This tropical cyclone will likely intensify into a typhoon tonight or tomorrow early morning and will strengthen further while moving over the sea south of Okinawa Islands. After reaching peak intensity, QUEENIE will begin to weaken by Monday (28 September).
