Coastal waters from Manasquan Inlet to Great Egg Inlet NJ out 20 nm... * Until 930 PM EDT. * At 754 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located over North Beach Haven, moving southeast at 25 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts, wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, and large hail. SOURCE...Buoy. At 749 PM EDT, a 50 knot wind gust was recorded at the North Beach Haven mesonet station. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. Large hail could result in structural damage. * Locations impacted include... Beach Haven, North Beach Haven, Garden State North Reef, Little Egg Reef, Little Egg Inlet, Ship Bottom, Garden State South Reef, Harvey Cedars, and Brigantine. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots, large hail, high waves, dangerous lightning, and heavy rain are possible with this storm. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor immediately. Frequent lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open water, stay below deck if possible and keep away from ungrounded metal objects. Report severe weather to the Coast Guard or the National Weather Service.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 16 at 8:00PM EDT until July 16 at 8:30PM EDT by NWS Mount Holly NJ At 759 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles southeast of Surf City, or 24 miles northeast of Atlantic City, moving southeast at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. At 749 PM EDT, a 58 MPH wind gust was recorded at the North Beach Haven mesonet station. IMPACT...Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible. Locations impacted include... Barnegat, Tuckerton, Surf City, Bass River State Forest, Warren Grove, Penn State Forest, Beach Haven West, Manahawkin, and Ocean Acres. This includes Garden State Parkway between mile markers 56 and 67. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm, and the storm will affect the beaches. For your safety, immediately move off the beach and seek shelter indoors. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
