Excessive Heat Warning issued May 9 at 3:34PM CDT until May 9 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Brownsville TX * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 125. * WHERE...Inland Cameron, Inland Kenedy, and Inland Willacy Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives, neighbors, workers, and the elderly. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit exercise and strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Death is possible to unprepared people and pets.
