Flood Warning issued July 4 at 2:51PM CDT until July 4 at 6:15PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of central Iowa, including the following counties, Boone, Jasper, Marshall, Polk and Story. * WHEN...Until 615 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 250 PM CDT, Heavy rainfall from Friday evening through this morning. Flooding is likely ongoing in the warned area. As much as 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen, with locally higher amounts. For the latest stream observations and forecasts refer to weather.gov/desmoines/water. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

These funnel clouds are typically brief, drop only a few hundred feet from the cloud base, and rarely become a tornado or cause damage. WHERE...Portions of Central and North Central Iowa, along and north of Highway 30. WHEN...through 6 pm CDT. IMPACTS...None expected. PREPAREDNESS AND PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS...If a funnel cloud is spotted, report it to the National Weather Service. If a tornado warning becomes necessary, take appropriate action.
