Flood Watch issued June 21 at 2:17AM CDT until June 22 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA An increasing risk of heavy rainfall and flash flooding is anticipated over far northern Iowa this morning and then later this evening and overnight. Showers and storms early this morning have trended farther south with an increased likelihood of heavy rain in portions of northern Iowa through the morning hours. Rain may continue to linger into the daylight hours, but will be generally scattered in nature with additional widespread heavy rain arriving later this evening until around dawn Saturday morning. Some uncertainty remains as to the exact axis of heaviest rainfall, but current indications are that the heaviest rainfall will be near the Iowa Minnesota border. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches are expected with locally higher amounts possible.
