Flood Advisory issued June 17 at 5:07PM CDT until June 17 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of northwest Indiana, including the following county, Porter. * WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 504 PM CDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that the heavy rain had exited the advisory area. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen, much of it in the past hour or so. Areas of standing water will likely persist on roadways across portions of the advisory area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Portage, Valparaiso, Chesterton, Lakes of the Four Seasons, South Haven, Porter, Winfield, Burns Harbor, Ogden Dunes, Town of Pines, Beverly Shores, Wheeler, Dune Acres and Malden. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Advisory means minor flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.

Waves 4 to 6 ft expected. * WHERE...Porter County. * WHEN...From 1 AM CDT Thursday through Thursday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Swimming conditions will be life threatening, especially for inexperienced swimmers. Remain out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions and do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other shoreline structures.
