The axis of the heaviest rainfall over the past 72 hours fell across SW Minnesota and N Iowa. This has resulted in a slight lower trend with upcoming crests. Moderate to major flooding is still forecast for many mainstem forecast points. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Minnesota River at New Ulm. * WHEN...Until further notice. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 945 AM CDT Saturday, the stage was 801.1 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 945 AM CDT Saturday was 801.1 feet. - Forecast...The river will rise to 801.4 feet early tomorrow afternoon. It will then fall early Tuesday afternoon. It will rise to 801.0 feet Thursday morning. It will then fall again but remain above flood stage. - Flood stage is 800.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 801.4 feet on 04/26/2018. Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.
