Red Flag Warning issued June 17 at 1:28AM MST until June 17 at 8:00PM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ MST Mon Jun 17 2024/ ...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM MST /NOON MDT/ THIS MORNING TO 8 PM MST /9 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHERN ARIZONA... * AFFECTED AREA...Locations near Buffalo Pass, Chinle, Dilkon, Doney Park, Eagar-Springerville, Flagstaff, Forest Lakes, Fredonia, Ganado, Grand Canyon, Heber-Overgaard, Holbrook, Jacob Lake, Kayenta, Kykotsmovi, North Rim, Page, Saint Johns, Shonto, Snowflake-Taylor, Tuba City, Valle, Williams, Window Rock and Winslow. This includes portions of the Apache- Sitgreaves National Forest, Coconino National Forest, Kaibab National Forest, Prescott National Forest and Tonto National Forest. * WINDS...Southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 8 percent. * IMPACTS...Any fires that start will have the potential to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or are imminent. A combination of strong winds and low relative humidities can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires. Follow local fire restrictions. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Patchy blowing dust may lead to reduced visibilities across northeastern Arizona. Secure loose outdoor objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, such as RVs, campers, and tractor trailers. Use extra caution.
