Air Quality Alert issued July 28 at 8:00AM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT AQAMT The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert for Beaverhead, Blaine, Broadwater, Cascade, Chouteau, Deer Lodge, Fergus, Granite, Jefferson, Judith Basin, Lake, Lewis and Clark, Liberty, Meagher, Mineral, Missoula, Petroleum, Pondera, Powell, Ravalli, Sanders, Silver Bow, Teton, Toole, Phillips, Hill counties in effect until 9AM on 07/29/2026 An Air Quality Alert means that particulates have been trending upwards and that an exceedance of the 24 hour National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) has occurred or may occur in the near future. Elevated particulate levels from wildfire smoke As of 6AM on 07/28/2026, particulate levels in Billings, Hamilton and Helena are Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. As of 6AM on 07/28/2026, particulate levels in Butte, Columbia Falls, Cut Bank, Dillon, Frenchtown, Great Falls, Havre, Lewistown, Libby, Malta, Missoula, Sleeping Giant and Thompson Falls are Moderate. When air quality is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups...
