Heat Advisory issued July 3 at 2:33PM EDT until July 4 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA * WHAT...Heat index values up to 108. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, north central, northeast, northwest, and west central Georgia. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, pea sized hail and frequent cloud to ground lightning. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of light, unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Douglasville, City of South Fulton, Smyrna, Powder Springs, Austell, Hiram, Lithia Springs, Sweetwater Creek State Park, Lost Mountain Park, Brownsville, Chapel Hill, Six Flags Over Georgia, Winston, and Mableton. People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
