Heat Advisory issued July 27 at 7:13AM CDT until July 28 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL * WHAT...Maximum heat index values of 105 to 109 expected both this afternoon and Tuesday afternoon. * WHERE...Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lowndes, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston Counties. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stoke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.

Special Weather Statement issued July 27 at 8:06AM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL At 806 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Southern Lake Martin, or 8 miles southwest of Dadeville, moving south at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Prattville, Millbrook, Tuskegee, Clanton, Wetumpka, Tallassee, Dadeville, Camp Hill, Notasulga, Equality, Elmore, Coosada, Deatsville, Eclectic, Franklin, Martin Dam, Santuck, Titus, Ten Cedar Estates, and Dexter. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
