Flood Watch issued June 20 at 12:58PM CDT until June 21 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, north central, and northeast Kansas, including the following counties, in east central Kansas, Douglas, Geary, Shawnee and Wabaunsee. In north central Kansas, Clay, Cloud, Ottawa, Republic and Washington. In northeast Kansas, Brown, Jackson, Jefferson, Marshall, Nemaha, Pottawatomie and Riley. * WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected to move in from western Kansas and southeastern Nebraska overnight, which could produce multiple rounds of rainfall over the same locations. Amounts of 1 to 3 inches are forecast for most places, but localized amounts of 3 to 6 inches will probably occur somewhere in the watch area, which could lead to flooding. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Special Weather Statement issued June 20 at 10:45PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS At 1045 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms near Linn, moving east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Strong wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Washington, Clifton, Linn, Greenleaf, Barnes, Morrowville, and Palmer. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 300 AM CDT for north central Kansas.
