Flood Watch issued July 11 at 11:30PM EDT until July 13 at 2:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of east central, northeast, south central, and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell and Rowan. In northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe. * WHEN...Through late Sunday night. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms producing locally heavy rainfall are expected through the rest of the weekend. Flood Advisory issued July 12 at 1:06AM EDT until July 12 at 4:15AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, Breathitt, Lee and Owsley. * WHEN...Until 415 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 106 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Jackson, Beattyville, Booneville, Lone, Grass, Stay, Lerose, Tallega, Athol, Enoch, Monica, St. Helens, Lower Buffalo, Canyon Falls, Chestnut Gap, Jetts Creek, Maloney, Turin, Copebranch and Corgleton. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
