Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued July 4 at 5:40PM CDT until July 4 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 455 REMAINS VALID UNTIL 7 PM CDT /8 PM EDT/ THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN INDIANA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN NORTHWEST INDIANA BENTON JASPER LAKE IN NEWTON PORTER THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CHESTERTON, DEMOTTE, FOWLER, GARY, HAMMOND, KENTLAND, MERRILLVILLE, MOROCCO, OXFORD, PORTAGE, RENSSELAER, ROSELAWN, AND VALPARAISO.

Flood Advisory issued July 4 at 5:27PM CDT until July 4 at 8:30PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of northwest Indiana, including the following counties, Jasper and Porter. * WHEN...Until 830 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 525 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing torrential rainfall. Up to 2 inches of rain have fallen in portions of the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. Runoff from the rain that has fallen and the additional rain will result in areas of flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... DeMotte, Hebron, Wheatfield, Roselawn, Kouts, Stoutsburg, Dunns Bridge, Baileys Corner, Fair Oaks and Parr. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Advisory means flooding along waterways and other poor drainage areas is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons in the advisory area should use caution and avoid flood waters.
