Flood Warning issued June 21 at 5:17AM CDT until June 21 at 10:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of central and south central Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Rice. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 1000 AM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 515 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen with some locally higher amounts. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hutchinson, Arkansas City, Winfield, Wellington, Goddard, Kingman, South Hutchinson, Sterling, Cheney, Douglass, Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Haven, Nickerson, Oxford, Garden Plain, Mount Hope, Udall, Pretty Prairie and Andale. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. * WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Storms with very heavy rainfall will continue this morning across the area. Rainfall rates are expected to be around 2 inches per hour with the stronger storms. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
