Patapsco River including Baltimore Harbor... * Until 945 PM EDT. * At 745 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 40 nm northwest of Middle River to 30 nm north of Tidal Basin to 18 nm northwest of Key Bridge, moving east at 35 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Boaters in small craft could be thrown overboard by suddenly higher winds and waves capsizing their vessel. * Locations impacted include... North Point State Park, Magothy River, Dobbins Island, Pooles Island, Gunpowder River, Sandy Point State Park, Northeast River, Bloody Point Light, Thomas Point Light, Poplar Island, Fort Smallwood State Park, Pinehurst, Turkey Point, Hart Miller Island, Gibson Island, Bodkin Point, Tolchester Beach, Worton Point, Spesutie Island, and Love Point. Frequent lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects. Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 11 at 8:45PM EDT until June 11 at 9:30PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC At 844 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Jarrettsville to Pasadena to Crofton to 6 miles northwest of Prince Frederick to near Colonial Beach, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Emergency Management has reported many instances of trees down with this line of storms. IMPACT...Damaging winds will cause some trees and large branches to fall. This could injure those outdoors, as well as damage homes and vehicles. Roadways may become blocked by downed trees. Localized power outages are possible. Unsecured light objects may become projectiles. Locations impacted include... Baltimore, Stafford, Waldorf, Bowie, Severn, Annapolis, Clinton, Pikesville, Crofton, Middle River, Fredericksburg, Cockeysville, Elkridge, Elkton, Aberdeen, Havre De Grace, Riviera Beach, Lexington Park, Largo, and Chesapeake Ranch Estates. Heat Advisory issued June 11 at 8:59PM EDT until June 12 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC * WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, heat index values up to 107. * WHERE...District of Columbia, central, northeast, northern, and southern Maryland, and central and northern Virginia. * WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
