Heat Advisory issued July 19 at 6:11PM CDT until July 20 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA * WHAT...Heat index values up to 110 expected. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi. * WHEN...From noon to 7 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Special Weather Statement issued July 19 at 8:22PM CDT by NWS New Orleans LA At 822 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Ocean Springs, moving south at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Pascagoula, Ocean Springs, Moss Point, Gautier, Gulf Hills, Gulf Park Estates, Hickory Hills, and Vancleave. This includes Interstate 10 in Mississippi between mile markers 53 and 66. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
