HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... Southeastern Brazoria County in southeastern Texas... * Until 1130 AM CDT. * At 1053 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 13 miles southeast of Galveston Pleasure Pier to near Galveston State Park to near Jamaica Beach, moving south at 35 mph. A mesonet site on Galveston island measured a 63 MPH wind gust from the outflow of these storms. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated and Sensor reported. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Beach Hazards Statement issued June 5 at 10:33AM CDT until June 5 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...High risk of rip currents and minor coastal flooding during times of high tide. * WHERE...Gulf-facing beaches, including the Matagorda Peninsula, Brazoria County beaches, Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Difficult to dangerous swimming conditions. If at the beach, swim near a lifeguard and away from rocks, jetties and piers. In addition, don't swim at the eastern or western tips of Galveston Island. Tidal currents and rip currents are always dangerous there. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
