Flash Flood Warning issued July 5 at 8:18PM EDT until July 5 at 10:45PM EDT by NWS Charleston WV At 818 PM EDT, Trained weather spotters reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Six Mile Creek along Six Mile Road in Boone County has overflowed its banks. Between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Madison, Chapmanville, Van, Chief Logan State Park, Mount Gay-Shamrock, Danville, Mitchell Heights, Jeffrey, Turtle Creek, Sharples, Blair, Foster, and Prenter. This includes Route 119 between mile markers 30 and 51. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Report flooding to the National Weather Service by calling toll free, 800 401 9535, when you can do so safely.
