Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued July 20 at 3:07PM CDT until July 20 at 3:30PM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA At 307 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over County Roads B 60 And T 18, or 14 miles southwest of Charles City, moving southeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Public. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Sheffield, Greene, Rockwell, Swaledale, Aredale, Dougherty, and Burchinal. This includes Interstate 35 between mile markers 185 and 188. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT for north central Iowa. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
