Flood Watch issued June 26 at 3:03PM EDT until June 27 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Estill, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, Whitley, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe. * WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff from persistent thunderstorms may result in localized flooding of creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Special Weather Statement issued June 26 at 11:37PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 1137 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Stepstone to Campsites in the Indian Creek area of the Daniel Boone National Forrest to See to Alumbaugh. Movement was east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Mount Sterling, West Liberty, Stanton, Frenchburg, Campton, Henry, Jeffersonville, Camargo, Wellington, Salt Lick, Campsites in the Indian Creek area of the Daniel Boone National Forrest, Pilot, Zag, Bowen, Cornwell, Leeco, Rothwell, Lick Branch, Pekin, and Omer. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway between mile markers 23 and 54. Interstate 64 in eastern Kentucky between mile markers 110 and 115. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
