Flood Watch issued June 27 at 12:04PM EDT until June 28 at 6:00AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Estill, Johnson, Martin, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, Whitley, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe. * WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect through tonight. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and thunderstorms are expected at times through tonight. Very heavy rainfall may occur where thunderstorms are the most persistent, resulting in flash flooding. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Special Weather Statement issued June 27 at 2:13PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 213 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Greenwood, or 10 miles north of Whitley City, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...Torrential Rainfall and Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Williamsburg, Whitley City, Burnside, Julip, Swan Lake, Cumberland Falls S.P., Co- Operative, Gausdale, Krupp, Bark Camp, Dixie, Siler, Honeybee, Wilton, Alpine, Dorthae, Jellico Creek, Quinton, Rockholds, and Rockcastle Springs. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... Interstate 75 in east central Kentucky between mile markers 5 and 31. U.S. Highway 25 East in Knox County between mile markers 15 and 26. U.S. Highway 25 East in Laurel County between mile markers 0 and 2. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
