Flash Flood Warning issued September 23 at 7:29PM EDT until September 23 at 9:45PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 729 PM EDT, the public reported flash flooding in Pilgrim. Between 1.5 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. Additional light rainfall is ongoing across the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Prince, Preece, Bradbury, McClure, Delong, Debord, Davella, Pevier, Pleasant, Coalpoint, Davisport, Pilgrim and Oppy. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.

In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Wolfe. * WHEN...Until 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected through the first part of the evening.
