Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued July 12 at 2:52PM EDT until July 12 at 9:00PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 486 IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN GEORGIA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN SOUTHEAST GEORGIA JENKINS SCREVEN IN SOUTH CAROLINA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 2 COUNTIES IN SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA ALLENDALE HAMPTON THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ALLENDALE, ESTILL, FAIRFAX, HAMPTON, MILLEN, SYCAMORE, SYLVANIA, VARNVILLE, AND YEMASSEE.

Special Weather Statement issued July 12 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Charleston SC At 800 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms extending from over Islandton to near Shawnee, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Walterboro, Springfield, Hampton, Yemassee, Lake Warren State Park, Rincon, Varnville, Estill and Guyton. This includes I-95 in South Carolina between mile markers 40 and 56. Stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards, TV or your local news source for the latest information from the National Weather Service. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Excessive cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 15 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
