Taylor County in west central Texas... * Until 200 AM CDT. * At 1202 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated numerous thunderstorms with very heavy rain repeatedly tracking northeast across most of Taylor County. Radar estimated rainfall amounts of 2.5 to 4.5 inches have occurred across much of Taylor County, with the highest totals from Potosi southwest to Buffalo Gap into central Taylor County. Additional rainfall amounts up to an inch are expected. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Abilene, Merkel, Tye, Tuscola, Buffalo Gap, Trent, Lawn, View, Caps, Coronados Camp, Dyess Afb, Bradshaw, Potosi, Happy Valley, Hamby, Impact, Camp Tonkawa, Lake Abilene, Ovalo and Kirby Lake. This includes Interstate 20 between Mile Markers 261 and 292. This includes the following Low Water Crossings... Intersections along Sammons Street, Intersections along Buttonwillow Parkway, Curry Lane from Clack Street to Catclaw Drive, Texas Avenue at Arnold Boulevard, Butternut Underpass, FM 3308 crossing Draw, FM 89 crossing Elm Creek, FM 89 crossing Scott Hollow, FM 1086 crossing Red Lake Creek and Broken Bough At Chimney Rock. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
