Central Long Island Sound... * Until 130 PM EDT. * At 1244 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Penfield Reef to Norwalk Islands to Long Neck Point to Stamford Harbor, moving east at 15 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Strong thunderstorms will be near... Norwalk Islands, Penfield Reef, Long Neck Point, and Bridgeport around 1250 PM EDT. Mouth of the Housatonic River around 100 PM EDT. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Wind gusts 34 knots or greater, high waves, lightning, and heavy rain are expected with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.

Averaged rainfall totals will be between 1 and 2 inches, with localized swaths of 3 to 4 inches possible.
