Southern Beaver County in western Pennsylvania... Northern Washington County in southwestern Pennsylvania... Southeastern Butler County in west central Pennsylvania... Western Indiana County in west central Pennsylvania... Allegheny County in southwestern Pennsylvania... Northwestern Westmoreland County in southwestern Pennsylvania... Southern Armstrong County in west central Pennsylvania... Brooke County in northern West Virginia... Hancock County in northern West Virginia... * Until 600 PM EDT. * At 522 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 8 miles east of Ford City to Murrysville to near Avella, moving southeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Law enforcement and trained spotters reported widespread wind damage across the warned area. IMPACT...Trees snapped and uprooted. Power outages can be expected. * Locations impacted include... Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Ross Township, McCandless Township, Monroeville, Moon Township, McMurray, Greensburg, Weirton, McKeesport, Franklin Park, Jeannette, Canonsburg, Vandergrift, Kittanning, Apollo, Gastonville, and Shaler Township. This includes the following highways... Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania near mile marker 23, between mile markers 26 and 27, and between mile markers 53 and 57. Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 36 and 76. Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 40 and 72. Parkway North between mile markers 1 and 13. Interstate 376 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 51 and 84. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. This is a DANGEROUS SITUATION. These storms are producing widespread wind damage across the warned area. SEEK SHELTER NOW inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows! Damaging wind and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Heat Advisory issued June 17 at 11:10AM EDT until June 21 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Pittsburgh PA * WHAT...Heat index values of 100 to 104 expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central Ohio, northwest, southwest, and western Pennsylvania, and northern and the northern panhandle of West Virginia. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
