North Central Cibola County in west central New Mexico... * Until 630 AM MDT. * At 425 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen since yesterday afternoon, and additional rainfall amounts up to 0.75 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Grants, Milan, Bluewater Lake, Bluewater Lake State Park and San Rafael in Cibola County. This includes Interstate 40 between Mile Markers 69 and 89. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads, especially at night when you cannot tell how deep the water is. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
