Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet 0-20 nm... Sebastian Inlet to Jupiter Inlet 20-60 nm... * Until 630 PM EDT. * At 454 PM EDT, strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 12 nm northeast of Saint Lucie Nuclear Power Plant to near Port Salerno, moving east at 15 knots. HAZARD...Wind gusts 34 knots or greater. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Expect wind gusts in excess of 34 knots, suddenly higher waves, lightning and heavy downpours. Make sure all on board are wearing life jackets. Return to safe harbor if possible. * Locations impacted include... Port Salerno, Sewall's Point, Witham Field, Hobe Sound Wildlife Refuge, and Stuart. Move to safe harbor immediately as gusty winds and high waves are expected. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor immediately. Frequent cloud to water lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck and, if possible, avoid ungrounded metal objects. Remember, lightning can strike beyond 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.

Special Weather Statement issued June 20 at 5:17PM EDT by NWS Melbourne FL At 517 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Port Salerno, moving southeast at 10 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Jupiter, Stuart, Tequesta, Jupiter Island, and Palm City. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Conditions are favorable for the development of brief funnel clouds. If a funnel cloud is spotted move indoors and report your sighting to the National Weather Service. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Excessive cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Seek safe shelter inside a sturdy building or hard-topped vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike beyond 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. When thunder roars, go indoors!

At 446 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 11 nm east of Fort Pierce Inlet to Palm City. The thunderstorms were nearly stationary. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. Waterspouts are possible with this activity. Remain on the alert in case warnings are issued for waterspout development. Frequent cloud to water lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water stay below deck and, if possible, avoid ungrounded metal objects. Remember, lightning can strike beyond 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
