Flood Watch issued September 23 at 11:11AM EDT until September 23 at 10:00PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall will be possible. * WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Johnson, Martin, Laurel, Whitley, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe. * WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening. Locations that are impacted by repeated heavy downpours may receive excessive rainfall which leads to flash flooding. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Southwestern Leslie County in southeastern Kentucky... * WHEN...Until 515 PM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 214 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Beverly, Sandy Fork, Stony Fork Junction, Tacky Town, Saylor, Field, Gardner, Spruce Pine, Warbranch, Rella and Blanche. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads.
