North central Jones County in eastern North Carolina... Greene County in eastern North Carolina... Lenoir County in eastern North Carolina... Pitt County in eastern North Carolina... Western Martin County in eastern North Carolina... Northwestern Beaufort County in eastern North Carolina... * Until 815 PM EDT. * At 710 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 8 miles southeast of Scotland Neck to 6 miles northwest of Goldsboro, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Greenville, Kinston, Winterville, Williamston, Ayden, Farmville, La Grange, Bethel, Grifton, Stokes, Snow Hill, Bell Arthur, Robersonville, Pactolus, House, Bruce, Dawson, Graingers, Institute, and Jason. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Prepare immediately for large hail and damaging winds. People outside should move immediately to shelter inside a strong building. Stay away from windows. Please send your reports of hail and/or wind damage, including trees or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office in Newport at 1-800-889-6889. Large hail, damaging wind, and continuous cloud to ground lightning are occurring with these storms. Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with these storms, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Special Weather Statement issued July 10 at 6:55PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC At 654 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles south of Scotland Neck to near Fremont. Movement was east at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Greenville, Williamston, Farmville, Bethel, Stokes, Bell Arthur, Robersonville, House, Bruce, East Carolina University, Pitt Greenville Airport, Dowdy Ficklen Stadium, Gold Point, Fountain, Hamilton, Oak City, Parmele, Walstonburg, Everetts, and Falkland. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
