Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 11 at 8:36PM CDT until June 11 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL At 836 PM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 11 miles northeast of Navy Pier to East Chicago to Frankfort, moving east at 60 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. These severe storms will be near... Calumet City, Chicago Heights, Lansing, Harvey, Dolton, Park Forest, Homewood, Matteson, Frankfort, and Steger around 840 PM CDT. Other locations impacted by these severe thunderstorms include East Hazel Crest, Burnham, South Chicago Heights, Hegewisch, East Side, and Riverdale. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for northeastern Illinois. Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Flood Watch issued June 11 at 12:39PM CDT until June 11 at 11:00PM CDT by NWS Chicago IL * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Boone, Central Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Eastern Will, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, La Salle, Lake IL, Lee, Livingston, McHenry, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Ogle, Southern Cook, Southern Will and Winnebago and northwest Indiana, including the following areas, Lake IN and Porter. * WHEN...Until 11 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Multiple rounds of heavy showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, with rain rates up to 1 to 3 inches per hour. The most likely areas for flooding include urban areas and locations and received heavy rainfall over the last few days. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood A Flood Watch for flash flooding means rapid-onset flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Flash flooding is a dangerous situation.
