Marine Weather Statement issued July 13 at 1:21AM EDT by NWS Marquette MI A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... 5NM East of a line from Fairport MI to Rock Island Passage... Green Bay North of line from Cedar River MI to Rock Island Passage... Lake Michigan from Seul Choix Point to Rock Island Passage 5NM offshore to Mid Lake... Seul Choix Point to Point Detour MI... At 121 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 10 nm south of Muskallonge State Park to 18 nm southwest of Shot Point, moving southeast at 45 knots. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds to around 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when these strong thunderstorms reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before these strong thunderstorms arrives.
