Extreme Heat Warning issued July 11 at 11:50PM CDT until July 14 at 1:00AM CDT by NWS Duluth MN * WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 103 expected. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Crow Wing, Aitkin, Pine, Koochiching, Cass, Itasca, Carlton, St. Louis, Cook and Lake Counties. In Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Fond du Lac Band, the northwestern area of the Lac du Flambeau Band, the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, the Bad River Reservation, the Grand Portage Reservation, the Red Cliff Band, the St. Croix Band in Burnett County, the Mille Lacs Band, Big Sandy Lake, East Lake, Hinckley and, Lena Lake areas and the Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake, Deer Creek and, Lake Vermilion areas. Other locations including Madeline Island, Voyageurs National Park and the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore. The entire Boundary Waters is also included. * WHEN...From 11 AM Sunday to 1 AM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Heat index values up to 108 expected in northern Ashland and Bayfield Counties along the South Shore. Little to no relief from the heat is possible Sunday night as continued very warm heat indices in the 70s are forecast Sunday night. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
